Journey with us

A Pilgrimage to the Shrines and Saints of Portugal and Spain

Dear Friends;

From the earliest days of the Church, pilgrimages have been an important part of the spiritual life. They lead us to sites sacred to our faith and inspire us with the lives of the saints associated with them. I am inviting you to join us on a pilgrimage to Portugal,Gibraltar, and Spain in honor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

We will travel to places that have special meaning to Our Lady of Mount Carmel. We first visit the shrine of Fatima, where Our Lady appeared and mentioned that she is also known as “Our Lady of Mount Carmel.” In addition, we will go to the beautiful walled city of Avila where St. Theresa lived and began the reform of the Carmelite Order. We will furthermore visit where St. John of the Cross lived; he also was an important reformer of the Order, and, like St. Theresa, is a Doctor of the Church. We will experience shrines of various saints such as the Cathedral of Lisbon where St. Anthony of Padua was baptized. Along our journey, we will visit breathtaking architectural, historical, and artistic treasures such as the Alhambra, one of the most beautiful palaces in the world.

Our pilgrimage will allow plenty of time for fun, adventure, and exploration, plus it is a great way to meet and make new friends with other parishioners.

I look forward to accompanying you as we celebrate our faith and grow closer to Christ and his mother, Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Rev. Lawrence Seyer
