Bishop Weisenburger Mass of Thanksgiving

A Mass of Thanksgiving was celebrated by Archbishop-elect Edward Weisburger at Saint Augustine Cathedral on Sunday 2 March 2025. This Mass was his farewell Mass as he will be installed and begin sharing his ministry as the Archbishop of Detroit on 18 March 2025.   Thirty-three Knights and Dames of the Diocese of Tucson participated in the Mass entrance procession.

In his Homily he asked that we pray with him and for him as he transitions to the Diocese of Detroit.  He noted that Religious receive for more that they give.  He shared three themes:

     1)  Never lose sight that the Diocese of Tucson is a blessed and vibrant community – We have an ongoing task of personal sanctification

     2)  Do not be afraid – Fear is the way the evil one works with-in us – Antidote to fear is acknowledging the condition

     3)  Love one another – As Christians, it may appear that we do “strange” things, but it is wonderful how we love on another – Pope Francis asks that we place love above everything else

In closing, he reminded us that we are all leaders of the Church and that our Baptism calls us to lead.

Blessings!
