June’s Eucharistic Miracle of the Month: The Modern-Day Miracles of Buenos Aires, Argentina

Dear Knights and Dames,

This June, as we continue our exploration of the wonders of the Eucharist, we turn our gaze to the recent past, to the remarkable Eucharistic miracles that occurred in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1992, 1994, and 1996.  These events stand as powerful testaments to the reality of Christ’s presence in the Eucharist, bridging the gap between faith and modern science.

Under the supervision of then-Archbishop Jorge Bergoglio (who is now Pope Francis), a meticulous scientific examination was conducted on the miraculous occurrence of 1996.  The results were astounding:  the Host had turned into human heart tissue.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church enlightens us, stating:  “Though faith is above reason, there can never be any real discrepancy between faith and reason.  Since the same God who reveals mysteries and infuses faith has bestowed the light of reason on the human mind, God cannot deny Himself, nor can truth ever contradict truth” (Section 159 of the Ascension Edition).  This principle is vividly illustrated by the Buenos Aires miracles.

These miracles underscore that Eucharistic miracles are not mere relics of the past but are ongoing signs of the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist, occurring even in our modern times.

May these modern-day miracles be a source of strength and affirmation in our spiritual journey and may our faith be ever enriched by the knowledge and love of the Eucharist.
